Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, One of Carena Treks representatives will welcome you and direct transfer you to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Today, you’ll meet your city tour guides who will take you to the tour of World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu including historical Kathmandu Durbar Square, Hindu temple Pashupatinath, famous Boudhanath and the most beautiful Swyambhunath Stupa. Later in the evening, you’ll meet your trekking guide at the hotel who will tell every detail regarding Upper Dolpo Trek. Overnight at the same hotel.
We start our good morning with a scenic flight to a famous city, Nepalgunj from Kathmandu. Today, we’ll spend overnight there at the cozy lodge and buy basic needs and trekking gears if you're not still bought any.
Early morning after breakfast at a lodge in Nepalgunj, we fly to Jhupal and have lunch there and start a day with a drive to Dunai. Few hours of the scenic drive takes us to Dunai where we spend overnight.
Today we go through wheat and vegetable fields and cross Bheri River and big suspension bridge takes us to the entry point of Shey Phoksundo National Park. After entering, we walk on the trail surrounded by pine, juniper and bamboo forest. After walking for a few hours, we arrive at Chhepka for an overnight stay.
We start walking early morning with short ascend and descend through a forest, we reach river bank and leave forest area crossing a small bridge, we reach Samdua Village near the entrance of Samdua Village. Overnight stay in Samdua Village.
Today we have to walk 6 hours to reach Phoksundo Lake from Samdua Village. On the way, we can see the spectacular waterfall of 109m, Phoksundo Waterfall, before reaching the top. After a long walk of 6 hours, we finally reach Phoksundo Lake for an overnight stay where we will set a camp.
This is your rest as well as exploration day around Phoksundo Lake. You can admire the beauty of Phoksundo Lake and explore nearby village inhabited by Buddhist people. Overnight at the camp.
After 2 long rest days, finally, we start our trek towards Phoksundo Khola from Phoksundo Lake. Overnight stay at Phoksundo Lake.
Today morning, we start walking on a good path leaving Phoksundo Khola and walking on a hill slope we reach on the ridge from where we can witness Shey gompa and few minutes of walk from there, we reach today’s stop, Phoksundo Bhanjyang.
Today we are going to step on the highest point of our trek, Nangdalo La and also visit ancient Shey Gompa, so it is going to be a special day for us. Kang-La Pass is located at an elevation of 5,350m and Shey Gompa is located at an elevation of 4,160m. Overnight in Shey Gompa.
Today is the rest day at Shey Gompa after a long and exhausting tough walk on the rocky trail. We also visit Crystal Monastery also known as Shey Monastery on this day. Overnight stay at the camp.
Early morning walk starts from walled canyon towards Sela at an elevation of 5,094m. From the top of the Sela, one can witness the most beautiful landscape of Dhaulagiri peak. We descend down to Namgung Gaon for an overnight stay.
Today, we walk mostly on the dusty and windy trail to reach Saldang for an overnight stay.
Early Morning we follow river Nang Chu, with short ups and downs passing few human settlements, we reach Chagaon for an overnight stay.
Morning walk leads us towards south around Dho Tarap village then reach Dhachu Khola crossing several farm fields and grazing land. Overnight at the camp.
Today we walk alongside river bank early morning, we may encounter Yaks and grazing fields. From the top of the Jyanta La Pass, we can encounter an amazing view of Dhaulagiri. Then we walk down to Phedi for an overnight stay.
After walking on a steep trail for a few hours, we reach Tokyu Gaon for an overnight stay which is one of the most beautiful and interesting villages in this Dolpo area.
We start walking downwards via green hills, and scenic valleys. On the way to Dho Tarap, we can encounter many Sheep and Yak farm and grazing lands. Dho Tarap is a village inhabited by Magar and Tibetan people.
Today we take long descend towards Tarap Valley which is the longest and largest valley in Dolpo Area. Then we follow Tarap Chu River and walk a few hours to reach Ghyamagar for an overnight stay.
Today, the trail enters into a narrow gorge with some bushes of rose and juniper where we may witness some wildlife moments: Naur and Blue Sheep. After a long walk for 6 hours, we arrive at Chhuyugar.
We start trekking early morning passing small villages and enter wooden area then after walking a few hours, we reach terraced farm fields and we cross Tarap Chu River that leads us to tonight’s stop, Tarakot.
This is our last day of the walk where we will be going to Dunai and drive to Jhupal from Tarakot. Overnight in Jhupal.
Finally, we leave the less crowded area and leave for the bustling city of Kathmandu on Day 24. Today we fly from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu after lunch for an overnight stay.
This is your free day in Kathmandu where you can do shopping, cultural exploration and go for sightseeing tour of Kathmandu Valley including Changunarayan, Patan, Budhanilkantha if you’d wish to. Overnight at the same hotel.
This is the last day of Upper Dolpo Trek so, one of our representatives will drop you to the airport for your flight back home.
