Description

Makalu Base Camp Trek, One of the most popular treks among solitary trekkers leads you at the lap of world’s fifth highest Mt. Makalu above 8,463 m / 27,766 ft high. Makalu Trekking is formally a restricted trekking area that lies in the area of Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area in the prime part of Eastern Nepal. The main center point of Makalu Base Camp trek is Makalu Barun National Park in Solukhumbhu and Sankhuwasabha district. Not only adventure, but you also get to explore cultural insights and rich wildlife of the region where you may get to see 75 species of mammals which are preserved in this place since a long time, including Red Panda, Snow-Leopard and Musk Deer, etc. This trek could be moderate to challenging because of lack of facilities.
Makalu Base Camp Trek starts with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar from Tribhuvan International Airport and ascends up the Arun river valley to Sedua and Num, then we cross Shipton La Pass at an elevation of 4210 m into the upper Barun River where we get to witness the close view of beautiful Makalu and Chamlang Himal. This trek takes us to one of the most remote and pristine areas of Nepal. The Barun valley is a special part of an international protected area under the agreement between the Nepal and China government, which covers 2330 sq. km of National Park and 830 sq. km of the conservation area in Nepal alone. This trek takes us all the way up to Shersong at an elevation of 4,572m. This trek is special because it combines everything you expect in a trek: beautiful villages, green pastures and fields, and forests, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, and rocky trails.
